Serial entrepreneur John Lee Saddington skillfully avoided industry specific jargon and got to the heart of the creative process. One of his talking points was similar to something Dave Grohl said in his recent SXSW keynote speech, albeit with a few less f-bombs. The basic argument is to take an honest look at your self and find your own voice. It doesn’t really matter if others get it or not. It is uniquely yours. Understand the things that set you apart and scratch your own itch.
Overly simplified? Cliche? Maybe. But in a world of brand decks, design by committee, and executing design for others it’s too easy to lose your voice.
