Customizable real estate emails

Challenge:

Designers/developers that have created responsive emails understand the unique challenges of this medium. Add in the customizable nature of this project and all of its exponential variables, and you have a beast of a challenge on your hands.

Solution:

Despite the challenges, this job was FUN!

This project consisted of multiple responsive emails, including single-property, multiple-property, newsletter, and quarterly market report emails. All of which are highly customizable by real estate agents within a corporate brand center.

This first image shows a sample email at full size. The second image is the mobile layout. The color bars at the top and bottom, as well as the logo, default to the assets specific to the agent’s market, all based off of permissioning. The user has the option to change the logo to a different market logo. If they do, the color bars update automatically to pair with that market. The user also has the option to select listings from the MLS database. When they do, the available images automatically update as well as titles, listing details, price points, etc. Even though property info pulls from a database, it can still be edited by the user.

The user can also choose from single-image, multi-image, single-video, or multi-video options. Plus, single, multi, and team agent options are available at the bottom.

Unless the user has social accounts added to their user profiles, the social icons at the bottom default to the corporate accounts, and these are also editable by the user.

Challenge:

Create responsive emails that can be updated by users within the brand center.

Solution:

This project consisted of multiple responsive emails, each with a unique look but with the same primary functions and content.

Each layout has a header with logo options followed by four content areas (Promotional, Informational, Customer Service, and Account Info). Only one content area is required for distribution. Content areas can also be rearranged into different combinations and orders. For example, all four content areas could be informational. Or, the user could choose customer service followed by promotional.

Brand approved logos and photography are loaded into the system and available for users within the template. Plus the user can upload their photography and crop it to fit the space, all within the template. Uploaded photography gets saved to the user profile and is available for future use.

Additional customization options include the ability to change background and typography colors, weight, style, ordered lists, and unordered lists.

Administrators can change the photography available to the template as well as update default copy and legal all from one central location without any downtime.

Success:

With the success of the first phase of responsive emails, we were asked to create an additional set. While the first round focused on providing information to consumers in a quick easy to read format, the second round contained newsletter formats intended for internal communications.

In this email, users can select from one horizontal image, two square images, four square images, or a combination of those options. These options result in a range of one to five total images. By merely leaving a field such as “photo info” blank, content is removed from the final customization. Other options for lengthier copy under the images are also available.
